President Prabowo Subianto Swears In Suahasil Nazara as Indonesia's New Finance Minister

JAKARTA, September 14, 2026 — In a key cabinet reshuffle, President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Suahasil Nazara as the new Minister of Finance on Monday afternoon at the State Palace, Jakarta.

Suahasil assumes leadership of the Ministry of Finance for the remainder of the 2024–2029 term, taking over from Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

A prominent economist and longtime public servant, Suahasil previously served as Deputy Finance Minister from 2019 to 2024 under former President Joko Widodo’s administration, continuing in the same capacity into the early years of President Prabowo's Red and White Cabinet (2024–2026).

His transition to the top ministerial role is widely regarded as a move to reinforce policy stability, fiscal discipline, and economic resilience in Southeast Asia's largest economy.
