KARANGASEM – The Head of the Bali Regional Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Tony Kurniawan, S.A.P., M.A.P., conducted a courtesy visit with the Regent of Karangasem, I Gusti Putu Parwata, S.E., which took place at the Karangasem Regent's Official Residence from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM WITA, Thursday, April 10, 2025.

This meeting served as a crucial moment to enhance coordination between the local government and intelligence authorities in order to maintain regional security stability, particularly in Karangasem Regency.

During the meeting, Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Tony Kurniawan conveyed that the overall situation and condition in Karangasem Regency remains highly conducive. Social, cultural, economic, and tourism sectors are functioning well. Nevertheless, he emphasized the importance of vigilance against potential threats, such as the activities of terrorist or radical groups that may use Karangasem as a transit point, as well as illegal activities involving foreign nationals (FNs) in tourist areas such as Amed and Candidasa, which could disrupt regional stability.

Meanwhile, Karangasem Regent I Gusti Putu Parwata, S.E., outlined several priority programs currently being implemented by the local government. The main focus at present is the provision of clean water and infrastructure development. Clean water will be sourced from Telaga Waja, which has now reached Tianyar Village in Kubu District. However, around 16,000 additional pipeline connections are still needed to reach residential centers.

The Regent also mentioned that a seawater distillation project had previously been proposed as an alternative for clean water supply, though it is still under study and awaiting approval from the relevant ministry.

Following his inauguration, the Karangasem Regent moved swiftly to draft various proposals that have been submitted to the Minister of Home Affairs through the Secretary General of the Ministry, and has coordinated with the Deputy Minister of Tourism to encourage the acceleration of development and tourism sector expansion in Karangasem.

In addition, the local government is ready to accelerate strategic programs from the Bali Provincial Government, including the development of a new dock in Amed, which is expected to open new entry points for tourists and boost the tourism sector in East Bali.

This courtesy visit reflects the synergy between local authorities and the regional government to uphold security, support development, and ensure the long-term welfare of the people of Karangasem.
