Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster Attends the Inauguration of Professors at Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar
Amid the tranquil beauty of Bali’s nature, Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar held a momentous event that was much more than just an academic ceremony. On this meaningful day, five esteemed professors from various fields were inaugurated, marking a historic milestone in Bali’s educational journey. This inauguration not only symbolizes a commitment to enhancing the quality of education and research, but it also signals Bali’s path toward a brighter future, full of hope and wisdom. The presence of Bali’s Governor, I Wayan Koster, brought a profound philosophical dimension to the event, transforming it from a ceremonial act into a powerful reflection of Bali’s vision for a more harmonious and sustainable future.

The event saw the inauguration of five academic figures who have made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge, including:
1. Prof. Dr. I Kt. Sukewati Lanang Putra Perbawa, S.H., M.H., appointed as a Professor in the Field of Electoral Law. In a world filled with political turbulence, his ideas help solidify a fair and sustainable governance system.
2. Prof. Dr. Ir. I Putu Sujana, M.S., an expert in Agricultural Cultivation who has revolutionized Bali’s agriculture, planting the seeds for environmentally sustainable food security.
3. Prof. Dr. Ida Ayu Made Sri Widiastuti, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.Hum., who has revived the art of teaching English, providing Bali’s youth with the tools to explore a limitless world.
4. Prof. Dr. Ir. NI GSt. Ag. Gae. EKc Martiningsih, M.Si., a pioneer in sustainable agricultural development, reminding us of the inseparable link between human welfare and the preservation of nature.
5. Prof. Dr. Desak Putu Eka Pratiwi, S.S., M.Hum., who keeps the Balinese language alive, enriching the cultural heritage that flows through the veins of every Balinese child.
Governor Koster, in his speech, firmly stated that the inauguration of these professors is a tangible manifestation of Bali’s determination to advance through education. However, he emphasized that this progress must remain rooted in the philosophy of “Sat Kerthi Loka Bali”—a teaching that calls for the harmonious balance between humans, nature, and God. This philosophy is not just a collection of words, but a life call urging us to pursue progress without forgetting the cultural and natural roots passed down by our ancestors.
The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony for the conferment of professorship at Mahasaraswati University Denpasar.
“Education is the light that guides us to the future, but we must remember that this light must be connected to the wisdom roots that have long existed in Bali,” said Governor Koster, urging all of Bali’s people not only to chase material progress but also to preserve the deep values inherited from their ancestors.
The highlight of the event was a symbolic act full of meaning: the planting of a memory tree. This tree is not just an ordinary plant; it represents hope and sustainability, much like knowledge that continues to grow and develop over time. The tree will grow strong, its roots deeply embedded in Bali’s fertile soil, reminding us of the importance of nurturing and preserving what has been passed on.
This memory tree carries the philosophy of eternal life. Just like the dedication of these professors, whose contributions will continue to grow and take root in society. As the tree grows and provides benefits, so too will the knowledge they have imparted become an infinite resource for future generations.
With the spirit of Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, Governor Koster hopes that education in Bali will not only produce intelligent generations but also wise individuals capable of facing the challenges of the times without forgetting Bali’s noble cultural and natural heritage.
“May this inauguration inspire us all to continue working towards a more prosperous, wiser, and harmonious Bali, where every step we take brings benefit to the preservation of Bali’s nature and culture,” concluded Governor Koster.
This event not only showcased the emergence of academic figures who have made significant achievements but also hinted at a long journey toward a wiser, more advanced, and more sustainable Bali. Like the tree planted that day, may our hopes and efforts continue to grow, root deeply, and provide benefits for future generations.
